Huffhines Art Trails Festival

Yesterday was the opening to the Huffhines Art Trail Festival in Richardson, TX. Which, I am proud to say that I am a part of. Here is a link to the festivals site.

It was a little of a wash out for opening day. After a month of basically no rain in North Texas, the skies decided to open up and pour down on us, about noonish. And it continued to rain much of the afternoon. With the rain in full swing it drove away most people from the festival, which allowed me more time to talk to other artist at the festival. Why work on one painting at a time?

Either I could not focus on just one painting or I just wasn't in the mood to finish "a" painting. So, this weekend I started 5 painting. This way I can have option for what I want to work on. Everyone should be lucky enough to have options.

A New Studio

The new shed is in place. Looking forward to get the outside painted this weekend. I've been taking my time getting it caulked and sealed over the last 2 weeks. Yes, I know that I can be slow with these projects.

Good Bye Old Friend

All good things must come to a end. My shed/studio space that I use in my back yard was roughly 25 years old and had seen better day. The wooden foundation had shifted over the years causing the shed to slop toward the far back corner. In addition the front was digging in to the ground causing the wood to become rotten. And the roofing shingles were just about gone. I had originally hoped to save the shed, but with all the work it was in need of it was better to spend the money on a all new shed. Good bye my friend, you will be missed but not forgotten

The Swedish Fish 13.1

Back in November of last year I set out to try and run 1 half marathon a month for a year. As luck would have it finding a half marathon during the warmer months is near impossible. So on May 23 a very good friend, Stephen Bates (aka Biggie), of mine put on a half marathon for me called the "Swedish Fish 13.1" complete with bib number, t-shirt, goodie bag, water stops and even the "Swedish Fish" finishers metal. The Swedish Fish theme was in honor of my current addiction to the candy's. There candy slogan is, "a friend that you can eat" A official pool side starting line for this beast of a half marathon was set up and a course covering 13.1 miles of Carrollton, Tx. A long the way there was a extra challenge at each of the 4 water stops. I needed to eat 6 Swedish Fish candies and drink a 8oz energy beer (in a Star Wars cup). Yes, there was also water there too. I complete each of the 4 challenges and covered the full 13.1 mile to finish at a local Buffalo Wild Wings for wings and beer. Out of the 7 half marathons that I have completed this year, this was by far the funniest, beating out the Fort Worth Cowtown.

The 2010 Wildflower Banjo

It took about a month but I have finished and handed over the banjo that I was painting for the 2010 Wildflower Festival in Richardson, TX. You can see more photos of the banjo on my Flicker page. This Banjo has turned out to be my favorite piece that I have done for the music festival. In addition to completing the banjo, I will also get to do some work on mural that will be part of the VIP area. That means I get to hang out for a full day with no one around, relax and paint, FUN TIMES!!!!

America's Run at Cowboy Stadium

Since I am trying to run one 1/2 Marathon every month for a year, there was no way that I was going to pass up the opportunity to finish a 1/2 marathon by running across the football field in Cowboy Stadium. It was also pretty cool that, projected my finish on the world's largest HD television too. Plus, Troy Aikman was there too. Pretty neat to know that I ran with one of the best quarterbacks in football history!

Completed Heart with Wings painting

I know it's taken me a very long time to finish this piece (longer than it should have). But I am very happy with this painting. The painting complete an stretched meassured 50 inches wide X 32 inches tall. Completing this painting is a good way for me to move on to the Wildflower Banjo. Mainly because this is the style that I want to carry over to the Banjo

Next Big Project

My next big art project will be painting a banjo for the Richardson Wildflower Festival. My current idea for this years design will be to paint the face on the center of the banjo and the sunflowers on the back of the banjo. Also this year I will be painting the case for the banjo. As i make progress on the banjo, I will make sure to post updates
